The argument being made by the OP seems to relate to the fact that a historical book appears to contain inaccuracies if examined with today's knowledge. Should the book be re-written making it more accurate?
My answer would be no, because it would then no longer be an historical work.
The other aspect is that in today's newspapers do we regard every word written to be the absolute truth? No, of course we don't. It is up to the reader to form their own opinion based on the knowledge that they have. Why should any religious text be treated any differently.
