Dawn of The Dead (2004)

6/10

It's an okay film. I tried to watch the original once and it was so boring. This film takes the premise of the original and makes it entertaining. It cuts out the boring bits. The characters are a bit one dimensional and boring, Ana for a start is really puzzling how she goes from grieving girl to some weird leader type but whatever. The film had some entertaining points such as the entire climax with the buses but it also had some really WTF moments (such as the bloated woman being wheeled in and killed). I liked the subplot with Andy from the gun shop being stranded across the lot from the mall - but I hate the characters for risking Chips' life so much The film also has the heartbreaking and unnecessary (imo) subplot of Andre and Luda's baby being born and being a zombie and the whole zombie baby fiasco - I guess many zombie fans have pondered around the subject but I didn't like seeing the plot unfolding. The ending also makes the film feel like a waste of time with them getting to safety (what they've talked about for the whole film) and then its actually nowhere near safe and they would have been better off in the mall. So yeah, in summary, the movie is fun (sorta) and a lot more entertaining in the original. It's a shame the characters are just not developed and it feels too clean and random to be a good movie so that's why I'm giving it a 6/10.
