Yesterday evening, Mother Nature had painted the world in white. In the garden, the ground was covered by a thick carpet of white which curled up against the walls and fences in dense drifts, and the green leaves of the scarlet berried Cotoneasters and the dark branches of the spruce and leylandiia were freshly piped with virgin icing.
A Robin Redbreast sang out 'Evensong' from the branch of a conifer in the hedge, and from some distant garden his mate answered. Then, with a flurrying of tiny wings which dislodged some of the branch's powdered snow, he was gone.
As I gazed out on this beautiful marshmallow world, I could .....
OH OK then.... I'm lying. It was just as cold and damp and muddy yesterday as it is today.
But why should Josy and LT have all the festive magic?
