If Lady C had said the same thing (or something vile/out of line) to someone like Tony/Duncan, you'd be defending her own actions more than anybody else (don't bother saying you wouldn't because the evidence in your posting history during IAC on-season pretty much confirms this).

Written defamation is called "libel," and spoken defamation is called "slander." Defamation is not a crime, but it is a "tort" (a civil wrong, rather than a criminal wrong). A person who has been defamed can sue the person who did the defaming.
