I think that goths and emos are just targeted more because they tend to be quite peaceful people who don't stir up trouble, making them easy targets for chavs as they are often bullys.
At my school there are 3 different categories of people, there's the chavs, the goth/emo type people, and the people who don't fit into either and are just 'themselves' if you can call it that. There's quite often fights between the chavs and the emo/goth people outside the school enterance, if you want to avoid this then just be in the 'themselves' group lol, thats how I avoided it.
