As Kazanne pointed out in another thread, John has done what he went in there for, worked for and got the money needed to help towards care for his Mum, plus giving entertainment into the bargain in that house, not one complaining every five seconds that he wants to walk, getting stuck into the tasks, so for me the betting re John means little or nothing, he has already made the final anyway
