This is why we don't climb in the UK during the winter, its just not cold enough and that makes snow and ice unpredictable.

Those rescue teams are all experienced climbers and mountaineers who have a fantastic back up system and minute to minute weather forecasts. The colder it is, the safer it is to send out rescue teams; its when it gets suddenly warm like it did at the weekend that there's a high avalanche risk.
