Irrationally severe lust could be an excuse for Zach getting together with Chanelle on his first night, if he'd done anything. The argument becomes void by the fact he didn't act on his (apparent) lust, for weeks. He even promised in the diary room that it hadn't (and wouldn't) happen at all.

It was over a month until Carole came up with the excuse "he's thinking with his pants", or something to that effect, and as soon as Zach heard the excuse he dashed to the diary room to use it on the public. It hadn't even occured to him before that.
