'Big Brother presenter Rylan Clark-Neal has promised that this summer’s series will be a “brand new show” that’s so different he feels like he’s “starting a new job”.
The former Celebrity Big Brother winner, who fronts spin-off Bit On The Side, has hinted that this year’s housemates will be caught off guard with a twist they won’t see coming.
Speaking to I Talk Telly at last night’s Royal Television Society awards, Rylan said: “People know what Big Brother is now, the contestants know what to expect. This year they won’t, because we’re doing something brand new which they haven’t even thought about!
“It will be a brand new show. It’s all change at Big Brother so it’ll be like starting a new job. We’ve been ready for a while for that, and I think the public have been ready for that, so I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s reactions on launch night. This year, expect something very different.”
While Big Brother often makes hyperbolic statements in a bid to promote new series, this year bosses have taken action to back them up. Channel 5 boss Ben Frow pledged last year that big changes are afoot after the Timebomb series sunk to a record ratings low.
Two key members of the show’s senior production team – creative director Denis O’Connor and showrunner Nick Samwell-Smith – have both departed Endemol Shine in recent months.
The production company has also been granted permission to build an extension to the Big Brother house at Elstree Studios, which will be its biggest revamp since it was built in 2002.
Big Brother is expected to return for its seventeenth series in June, while Channel 5 has also signed Rylan to host a brand new chat show, which will hit screens in May.'

Something housemates won't see coming? I think it's normal nominations!
