Not unless you consider that as a confounding variable. It's kind of like a double-bluff, instead of analysing their behaviour within a controlled environment, they take into account that the environment is artificial, and then analyse the behaviour from that.

Personally I don't like the show much because it hardly endears to beyond-basic Psychological ideas. But then again I can understand fully why they wouldn't want to go too in-depth because they wouldn't have a large target audience.
I agree mostly but I never hear them say anything about the fact that they are trapped in a house full of cameras, being filmed 24/7 to an audience of millions! I don't think even the most artificial lab study could compete with that!
