..I think that he's TV Lazy, rather than TV Gold...maybe doesn't have a sense of his own identity or confidence, enough to feel as though his personality would be enough 'entertainment'...so he's just doing the show-mance thing ...well it's not even a show-mance as such, it's just a grope-mance or whatever...
