Until the 'characters' start going one after the other I don't see your point no matter how long winded you word it.

I wouldn't personally call Marco a character, just a drain - after he goes I won't have to be repulsed by him and Laura prancing around half naked and hear him irritating laugh any longer. There are far better characters getting a barely there edit in favour of him.

Clearly we find entertainment in different things this series because I don't find Marco interesting or or even fun to loath.
