I think what BB tried to say in Friday's HL show was that Charlie said the dog was like his daughter, then Jane piped up that Jason had mentioned his daughter to her which let Charlie who was keep the 'daughter' part of Jason 'secret' start talking about how hurt her feelings were concerning Jasons ('mother / daughter relationship status unknown') secretive and protective nature with his past.
However I think Jason was hoping to protect these people from media attention.
