Why do South Asian women always seem to be outsiders on Big Brother?
This is a genuine question and please don't start the whole "oh stop banging in about colour" stuff etc, it's a genuine question because we've seen it quite a few times on the show now and I don't understand why it seems to happen? I'm not saying race is a factor but I just find it interesting that there is a pattern of South Asian women being outsiders from the group.
We had:
Sunita in BB3, the first person to walk due to not feeling part of the group.
Shabnam in BB8 who seemed really desperate to try and get in everyone's good books but the majority of her housemates were easily annoyed by her
Nicky in BB8 who only really had a few friends in Charley, Tracey, Laura etc and was in most of the arguments that series
Maysoon in BB9 walked due to not feeling part of the experience
Beinazir in BB10 was pretty much ignored by both her housemates and production and the viewers, and didn't make any connections with anyone at all
Hira in BB10 seemed to get on well with most of her housemates but still people found issue with her for being too positive and happy (such a stupid reason)
Deana in BB13 is probably the best example of this in civillian BB terms. Only really had 2 or 3 people who actually acknowledged her.
Shilpa in CBB5 is clearly the most obvious case of being excluded from the group and being outcasted and bullied 100%
And now Saira in CBB18 seems to be disliked by nearly all her housemates
I just don't get it, and I can't really put it down to BB casting stereotypes either because the ones I've listed are all very different characters.
