Yeah the OP raises a good point but i think it's actually less exciting than that.

Take Bear out and picture the scene:

Marnie and Lewis going through the motions of a 'reality star' showmance (yawn)
Renee, Frankie, Aubrey and Katie all sitting around in the bedroom (yawn)
James, Ricky and Sam in the smoking area having the usual daily conversation without laughing (yawn)

The best drama that lot can come up with (without Bear) is Renee banging on about herself while the others listen dutifully or Lewis pretending he's 'ready to settle down now' and occasionally flashing his balls.

The result? Everyone switches off and complains that BB has lost it.
