This isn't the first time he's demonstrated exactly how to deal with these things... the other day Aubrey (vaguely) pushed over part of his fort thing and when she came out like "Oh no what happened to it Bear??" he was like "Huh? Nothing
". That's how you deal with a wind-up merchant.
He knows exactly how to deal with it *because* he is one. If they'd taken note of this earlier he'd never have gotten to any of them so much.
