I believe all should take responsibility for what they do.
It being a small amount he would be in trouble,however may not be seen as dealing or taking large quantities of drugs in or out the Country.

If I was the father, it may be I am the one who supports the family,if I ended up prosecuted for this my future is possibly not only threatened but also my family's

At 18, he would be young enough to learn from this and rebuild his life,so I would give all the support I could and stand with him while he admits his error himself.
I would never allow my Parents to take the blame if I was the Son anyway.

On paper that is what I would do anyway.
