I think that you succeeded in your goal as far as surrealism is concerned, but were not so self-indulgent as to render the film plot 'unfathomable', and I was 'Hooked' immediately and suitably intrigued enough to 'want' to continue watching - something which does not always happen when I have watched some other shorts.
I think that you may well make a success of your chosen career, if this is your very first film, and I sincerely hope that you do.
