I can see why some tire of celebrity endorsements of political campaigns (or the exact opposite, as in this case) but they appear to have been around for as long as I've been born. Bush, Romney and McCain certainly were - I'd imagine it's been going since the 50s.
For all of his whipping up of anti-establishment support, I can't understand what the alternative is that Trump brings to the table. Is he impervious to corporate backhanding and media luvvies? Was he not himself a host of Saturday Night Live last year? Has he not done a roast? It doesn't quite have the same effect: trashing the media for rigging it against you and yet feeding off of it.
