DT had decided to investigate the murders. He couldn't just stand by and watch as people young enough to be his children were being butchered by a maniac. A few other members had received clues through various means that DT had compiled and he cross referenced the clues from the members with the details of the murders and came up with a location, an abandoned office building that was a potential base of operations for the killer. He had almost forgotten that he used to be an excellent police officer and he felt a pang of despair at the thought of his skills going to waste in his current job as a Security Guard.
He had joined the forum as a way to stay connected to his past, he loved to discuss crime stories with everyone else, he spent hours batting around theories on unsolved crimes and had found several solid and lasting friendships in the process. He longed for those days and felt bitter at what the forum had become. It had become more vicious in both content and it's members. If it weren't for the murders he would have left by now. Several of those that remained on the forum - he'd noticed that a handful had stopped posting, probably out of fear but possibly out of far worse reasons - continued to speculate and accuse each other. The forum's administrator remained chillingly silent, prompting some to even accuse him of doing it. The realisation that no one actually knew who he - or she - is was quite the cherry on top.
He arrived at the Office Building - the front door had been forced open. DT cautiously entered the building and followed the trail of disturbed dust and debris to a door on the third floor. He could see light coming through the gaps in the door frame. His heart raced as he reached for the door handle.
