This is a great place to start this conversation as I'm sure the anecdotal studies all have done in this section will provide great insight.
I used to troll when I was much younger. I also loved debate (of an academic/intellectual quality), but those things often do not mix for creating conversations that aren't without major discord.
I had trouble there and I lost quite a few arguments...
Actually, I think many people--if not most--troll in some form on the net. My trolling tendencies really came from immaturity and a lack of an ability to get my opinion across without using personalized language (
you!!!)...
I wonder if because of the advent of the internet, especially in the US since now we have an internet troll as
president, ... perhaps people will have to learn to not react so easily to emotional arguments. Instead, look for better ways to communicate and get their ideas across than screaming at each other in the face... one can only hope right?
If we somehow survive a Donald Trump presidency, I think that would be the next step would be to work on education and improving people's social/communication skills... especially since ideas are real currency now (thanks internet!)... and we kinda need to improve those things in other to fix (or work on) a lot of social problems that face society. Edit: Also to work on communicating with each other in general to lower divorce rates and to counteract cultural collision...
Personally, I think we need more social/life skills taught in schools. That would avert some trouble there, as it would teach kids to better navigate situations where people prey on others... for
whatever reason. Also, it would help them to better understand when they should seek help and maybe other child-hood problems can be nipped in the bud before they become major problems in adulthood.
