I got it on and off loads as a kid, once lasted so long that the pain became normal and one day I thought my throat felt "strange" - then realised that it was because the pain was
gone, and it felt really unusual
. The doctor said if it kept happening they were to come out. Guess they listened because it stopped

I got it again a couple of years ago though (aged 27) and was pretty miserable with it - I was ill for a good 2 weeks and it lingered on one side for (literally) months. Antibiotics didn't shift it. Cleared up eventually on its own. Haven't had it again since, touch wood.
