..that would be an idea Johnny but I think that it's really about people accepting accountability/responsibility as well more than anything else for their own part in these things/bans..(and also letting go of grudges etc..)...I see that Kirk is banned and I'm really sorry about that..I think that as much as many of us are in quite a bit of frustration with SD atm and feel that something has to change, I don't think that bans are the answer, well they're not being the answer or solving because here we are again...and I also personally think that the bans themselves, being as frequent as they're becoming are equally reflecting negatively on the forum as much as the SD constant squabbles are.../both having an equal negative effect on the forum...

...the thing with what you suggested would only work also if that person wasn't able to view that section also because otherwise being able to read and view but being banned from posting would just (I think) lead to building up frustrations and more negativity...having your voice stifled is also very far from being a solution I think...another thing could be for admin if it were possible, to force ignores on certain members, to themselves go into an account and add an ignore that they feel necessary to be there for a certain length of time, try removing it after that time and see if that's made a difference...but then again, it's really down to self responsibility with all of these things...(and also our friends doing what they can as well in not saying, woah this is what they said etc...because no one wants to see bans at all but especially with those we enjoy seeing most posting on the forum..)...

..anyways, I don't think that bans for this specific issue in SD atm are the solution because they're becoming so frequent and they haven't solved but probably have only led to more heightened emotions and more frustration, which seems to defeat the point and be counter-productive..I also think that they're potentially forum splitting and very damaging, we don't have so many active members on the forum as used to be anyway so everyone vital to be here...it's hard to know what the solution is because I really do think that seeing and accepting our own responsibility and culpability is the main thing so just the obvious of reporting when we feel that someone is being offensive/insulting/personal etc...(a little plea to admin..)...could Kirk be unbanned please and could he not have any of his 'privileges' taken away of restricted posting and could we just see if this all can be moved forward from and just us all show a little more 'equal respect' in our differing opinions no matter who we're responding to or whatever.../no targeting of specific members in a more hostile way and no pushing of buttons or insulting of someone to provoke hostility either...the other thing would maybe be to have a different system for SD and 'ongoing specific personal clashes' in a one warning thing and it's a one day ban for all involved, so in a particular situation all are equally held accountable and separate from any other forum infractions and build up of such.../but that isn't an ideal either and an extreme thing when with us all being grown ups and all, it shouldn't be necessary to have things enforced on us and not be able to self-discipline how we speak to people....
