Always good posts from you Ammi and ones that do open up a lot of thought.
Speaking from my perspective,I have got tired of some of the personal attacks I have had made against myself, only by single figure numbers as to members, no more.
I think in all my time on here I have reported 3 posts.
I do also think there likely comes a time when the mods to act for just about all, need to impose bans too.
I do not believe any of them really want to have to do so but often are left with little choice.
However, having been reluctant to use it before, it was suggested to me as to using the ignore section.
I have duly done so and you mentioned this in your post earlier, it is really a good way.
I avoid getting all the unnecessary hassle I would have, I can ignore totally the posts of the likely offending nature.
What is really sad to me on here, is people are in the main adults yet problems arise to look good or try to take control if certain areas or issues.
Disagreement with another's view can be seen as stupidity.
All wrong.
What is the answer, I like the ignore feature now, easy to do and it helps avoid totally anyone who may just be out to bait, antagonise or deliberately bring about arguments with yourself via sometimes very personal insults.
So maybe instead of bans some enforced ignore feature between members as you sort of touched on earlier could help.
It has helped me in one direction certainly and made me feel able to return a little more to SD now.
Any points can be made strongly on anything, personally insulting others, calling them, stupid or liars etc; should not and should never be acceptable however.
Perhaps in that instance sadly, a ban may be the only way to restore some peace.
