Of course it doesn't...most people are capable of seeing faults in a housemate they like and seeing good qualities or at least accepting that someone they dislike is right sometimes
I agree that she still wouldn't stop if he told her straight. But at the moment, he is quite clearly leading her on a bit. I have a feeling he will regret that fairly shortly
