Hitching our struggling wagon to a country that is quite blatantly in the middle of self-destructing seems like a superb idea to me. I mean, at least we're consistent in our unfathomable self harm.
Remember how brexitbuddies insisted all through Brexit that it was awesome that we were going to forge strong links with emerging economies like China, Brazil and India? And now those same brexitbuddies are trying to convince us that, contrary to that, it's actually the USA we want to cuddle up with?
Any way the wind blows for some, I guess.
