Maybe I was wrong yesterday; I actually agree with you there . Access to higher education should be based purely on the academic merit of the applicant and not the ability of their parents to pay 6-figure-sums to buy them an education... and also, if access WAS more academically competitive, and financially feasible for all, then the people who end up with places would probably be better suited to understanding the emotional robustness that a person needs to fully engage, openly, with the academic process.
