Your last point is where the flaw lies. Many who have committed serious, heinous crimes ARE released after a few years. Life rarely means life nowadays.
True - but that's a different issue.
No it's not a different issue. that's one of the reasons criminals do not fear being caught. Lenient sentences propogate crime......
er...yes it is a different issue. The thread was about whether or not the death penalty should be brought back. The fact that sentences are far too short nowadays is a different issue.
