They had something majorly against the idea of having volunteer mods, and they didn't want to pay more than one person! It was back in the late 90's / early 2000's, the internet was much more "niche" I think. A professional company would just never be associated with a shambles like that these days. There would probably be legal issues! There were at least three 40+ year old guys constantly on talking to 14/15 year old girls

To be fair I was mostly active on there between the ages of 13 and 17. I'm are an grown-up now.
