Spoiler:

I start off with what Idid like. The whole concept and basic story quite interesting and is what kept me watching. I love the directing how the transitions between flashbacks and realtime are seamless.

Now what I didn't like:
Spoiler:

- The behaviour and dialogue really isn't realistic and this really pulls you out the story, I constantly find myself asking 'wtf are you doing?'. It also doesn't make much sense why some characters are so scared of the tapes getting out especially people like Zach and Ryan, like yeah he was a douchebag but could he get in serious trouble for a bad date? And for the dialogue "FML for life".....

- Why is Clay's mental health glossed over? Was he just freaking out over the tape? was it insomnia from not sleeping much? Or did the tapes trigger a past problem? The last one is heavily implied but nothing is confirmed.

- Tony is irritating, why is he so ambiguous when talking about the tapes? I get its to add some mystery to the show and meant to leave the audience hooked, but it doesn't make any sense at all for his character. He's meant to me Clay's best friend and he can clearly see how distressed this is all making him yet he is such an arse hole about it "it has to be done like this its what she wanted" like shut the **** up? we also don't see any of him and Hanna's friendship so this loyalty towards her is even more confusing. WHY DID HE ANSWER YES WHEN CLAY ASKED HIM IF HE KILLED HANNA?

- Clay is stupid and annoying. 2017 and i still have to watch self righteous idiots run around trying to do 'whats right' without thinking about their actions AT ALL!

- Mr porter being so unhelpful is just way out there for me. its just so unrealistic no professional would do that. Its 2017 and the school guidance counsellor (who doesn't seem to be corrupt, evil or anything of sorts) lets a 17 year old girl walk just walk out his office after telling him she's just been raped and basically spelling out that she's wants to end her life... I AM SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THIS IS A POSSIBLE SCENARIO!!??

- Hanna is awful. I read somewhere that the writer didn't want the audience to like her and he succeeded but it makes me not care about her killing herself. Yeah what Ryan did was bad but did he really deserve to get a tape telling him that he's responsible for her suicide? Did hanna really feel like he deserved this? Did clay deserve a body tape? For someone suicidal its very unusual that she seems to want to blame others for her suicide. Really it puts them two in the same box as someone who rapped her and her friend!?

- What is the show trying to do? I honestly do not buy this pseudo activism. It doesn't really seem like they did any research at all. The show basically romanticises depression as a way to get revenge on people who bully you, did they show any other ways of her dealing with the bulling? NO! Not only that the whole suicide scene was just so graphic?! Imo the show is extremely irresponsible. While the show does make you think about the way you treat others it makes it seem like every single little bad interaction you have with someone could lead to their suicide. Also end the show with another suicide attempt? really? did he leave tapes too?
Exactly

Spoiler:

On the whole, it had a good potential, but some things could/should've been polished. Tony is the most blatant excuse of a character, his actions/motives/monologues have zero credibility. The cliff scene is ridiculous. He's supposed to be a 17 yo character, not an external objective narrator. I've understood from my little sister that he doesn't even take an active part in the original book, except being mentioned.
