So called intelligent people make lots of money and spend it on items that have been priced so high that it makes them feel special by buying it when in fact they are being fleeced by another intelligent person, and the cycle continues.
The difference is, the rich can afford to be frivolous, the poor can't but many still have a desire to impress. Its human motivation that starts early in life regardless of parental earnings.

The rich will get away with what they can and the poor will do the same. We can't blame the rich for being rich or the poor for being poor but we can blame corrupt governments and this was something not mentioned in his talk.
