I think that people's sense of "morality" can go into an extreme PC level as they think that saying certain things, or making certain jokes is being "horrible" or "going too far" because the person actually thinks that their OTT PC ways is a good thing, and noble. Just as on the other spectrum that someone with a low amount of PC in them will think that it's okay to say whatever they want, but people are being mean if they don't like them saying certain words, or just out and out being controversial, I actually do join the latter myself to some extent.
