She specifically called it to
increase the conservative Westminster majority as a madate for hard Brexit. That was the entire plan and it backfired spectacularly - not only did she fail to achieve a large majority, she LOST the small majority that she already had
. You can't rewrite history now and claim it was called "so that she would be the legitimately elected PM"... that's not why it was called.
Especially when there's a not-too-small chance she will now be REPLACED as PM.
