Default Big Brother RIP

For me, Big Brother is dead and I will not be watching.

I thought I would give this year ago having been a fan since the first series in 2000. Sadly, there has been no change to the selection.

I believed that we would have housemates from all across the UK. Instead we had housemates from England and Wales and 6 have appeared in reality TV shows before.

It goes against the very premise of Big Brother as a show. During the Channel 4 days potential housemates were selected from audition tapes and then later auditions which were held in different cities around the UK.

Now they seem to be sourced from talent agencies and that for me is the reason as to why viewing figures are going down. We are not getting a true cross section of society.

I fear this will be the last series of the main Big Brother as viewing figures are declining rapidly. It is as if producers do not have a vested interest in this part of Big Brother any more.

The same could be said for Big Brother. "Celebrities" going into the house are from MTV shows, gone are the days of Channel 4 when we had Jermaine and Latoya Jackson.
