I forget which Series it was exactly but i loved the whole 'Tennis Ball Gate' incidents.
I know it was Channel 4 ('Golden Age' if you will) era BB.
He started hoi-ing tennis balls with messages written on them over into the garden with a custom homemade catapult ball launcher.
I remember that after it happened a few times and the housemates found them the guy posted a video on Youtube of him with the assistance of his young son launching the balls from a kinda' slightly wooded area near the house. Classic BB fan inventive-ness!
I believe that was when and why they first fitted the net stretched over the garden wall.
Those were the days!!!
No real need for anything like that these days though as they tell them more in there than you could fit on a thousand tennis balls.
