That's literally nobody's reasoning. His story seems convenient yet far fetched, and almost like an excuse for his behaviour.
You don't go from coughing up blood 150 times a day to enjoying a drink with Chico at the bar within a couple days.
There are aspects of his story which are bull****, I don't know which though, nobody does. Funny how only people who adore him don't see that
