Raph *wants* to be the same, but he fumbles and is too self pitying and easily shaken to do it well. I think Raph has a clear picture in his head what his plan is in theory, but he lacks the social skills and mental resilience to make it work through to the end. His game playing just comes across as snidey and weak.
Isabelle is smart, brave, funny, and shameless. She doesn't give a ****. She pretty much does it in the open and dares people to come for her.
