My wife is down in Birmingham for a conference next week... Return ticket (from Glasgow) is nearly £100, and that's at the cheapest off peak times, around rush hours is more.
First class was quoting £350!! For a TRAIN from Glasgow to Birmingham
. Insane. It's not even that different?? We got first class from Preston to Glasgow a couple of years ago, free upgrade because Virgin managed to double book our seats somehow. It's SLIGHTLY more comfortable and spacious, and you get a free sandwich and drink, but really... At £350 that's a damn expensive sandwich.
