Anyhow, I think its dangerous to blame this incident solely on political correctness, when there are so many lessons to learn from it, and so many factors that resulted in the outcome. Incompetence from individuals of child protective services, and police force, lack of evidence, lack of people coming forward, etc etc. If pc was a factor, it was one or many, so lets not discuss a sensitive and complex issue like the answer is as simple as 'stop political correctness' its a bit silly.

Actually PC does not stop sexist comments on here, as you (personally you alone) would now, because PC has double standards and concentrates it's PC tirade unequally, largely being preoccupied in certain areas such as racism. Sexism comes considerably far lower down on its list of priorities.
As we can see from the article PC played a considerable part in what continued to happen to those poor girls. Any form of fanaticism has catastophic effects leaving a trail of innocent victims in its wake.
