I can't really comment on whether or not the charge is light - I do sort of think that the UK has sort of light charges for some offenses across the board (and overly harsh sentencing for many non-aggressive crimes) but that's another debate really.

The idea here seems to be that if a white man had done it in a mosque he would have received harsher punishment. I personally think that's BS and supposition. He would most likely have received exactly the same.

Im not sure what people expect for a public order offence?

I've seen guys arrested for physical assault, drug dealing and possession of stolen goods all in one go - who have criminal records and prison time already - and they're back in the shop putting on their £2 football accas less than 6 months later.

If you're expecting serious sentencing for a bit of shouting... Well...
