Default Squeaky bike brakes

So my daughter keeps wanting to cycle to and from school now that she has finally learned to ride her bike, and I've been going with her on my bike. It's a decent bike, was like £550 three years ago. It's been in the shed for like... 2 and 9/10ths of a year. AND NOW when I brake, it goes "HHHYYYNNNNNNNYYYAAARRRKKKK!!!".

Like I also rode it to the shop last night at 9.45pm and I was all "OMG it's a school night I'll be waking up the whole town" because they are THAT loud. And today when I took her to school, I just used my feet to stop like a toddler, because I didn't want to announce her arrival at the school gates like RRRRNNNNNNNEEEEERRRKKKKKKKK.

So anyway. How do I fix that? Someone is bound to know.
