I don'the necessarily disagree with this article and I've been very anti all stars/returnees for a while now, HOWEVER I don't think that the failure of the season is with Paul alone but more so the casting of the newbies.
Let's take BB11/13 for example both generally regarded as good seasons, both with returning players and both with (often frustrating) production twists, similar to our current season. The difference between these seasons and our current season is that 11 and 13 had scrappy underdogs and people who didn't just follow orders meaning the season is much more dynamic and you can get much more invested. Say if Paul got taken out midway through the series like Jeff in BB13 how satisfying it would be? But it could never happen because it's just such a weak cast.
Matt and Raven are comparible to Shane and Danielle from BB14 but somehow Matt is even more bland and entitled whilst Raven is even more insane, delusional and... dumb lol. Josh is essentially there as part of the Zach Rance school of attention seeking, Alex is LITERALLY there to be invited back for All-Stars whilst Christmas and Jason are just sipping the kool-aid waiting for it to kick in. Marlena were just too little too late, Jody were terrible players, which pretty much leaves Ramses and Dominique who couldn't make a move even if they wanted to.
Oh well. At least BBCAN is renewed.
