Most TV drama writers might be disappointed to find their new programme has been beaten in the ratings battle on its premier.
But for co-writing brothers Jack and Harry Williams were in a slightly more unusual position as their show was beaten by another one of their own creations.
The brothers' saw their new ITV drama, Liar, trounce their BBC1 offering, Rellik, when both thrillers premiered at 9pm on Monday night. Liar drew 5.31million viewers while just 3.6million tuned into BBC1.
Dozens of viewers branded Rellik, which tells the story of a serial murderer in reverse, 'confusing' with some saying they would not tune in for the second episode.
