It's not "their" restauraunt. If you went into H&M and looked at a pair of jeans, you wouldn't just put them on the floor for a member of staff to pick up/put back.
I worked in fast food for a good 3-4 years, there's
always something to be done and having to clear up after every customer bc they thought it was below themselves is massively time consuming and an annoyance.
