Not sure I agree they do so any more than parents do. Parents often do so to keep them quiet whilst getting on with other things - so don’t see much in it myself.

Kids should have some treats. Whilst is Health is important life also needs some enjoyment too.
I agree brillo , my childrens' grandparents spoil them but not really in a sweetie way, they have treats but it's usually a toy or day out somewhere, it's just common sense really ,everything in moderation .
