BB6 started to show cracks in the format but due to some interesting housemates like Makosi and Science the series was considered a success.

BB7 is where it started crumbling in my opinion. Far too many housemates, too many wannabees, it became more about celebrity than ever before. Over-the-top twists that a lot of the time fell flat. And also the most manipulation by the producers out of any series so far.

Then BB8 was just an all around failure. And because of this I decided finally check out our 'brothers' across the pond and I started watching BBUSA Season 8 and it really blew me away, it was so different in terms of the 'game', people actually cared about been there, they wanted to win the show and wasn't afraid to admit it. They had alliances, game plans and strategy..all of which wasn't frowned upon like some horrible sin. Bitching, backstabbing and side-deals where all involved and it also had some very entertaining housemates, some decent twists and a whole lot of fun.

Since BBUSA Season 8 finished, I've watched BBUSA Season 2 and I enjoyed that just as much. The whole format is just totally better than ours, it's more of a competition where you want to win and aren't lambasted for admitting so.

I'd still say the best BB's are BB3 and BB5 UK but I would very much welcome the BBUSA format adapted into our series in the future.

Oh and another thing BB3 and BB5 are usually considered the best UK Big Brother's. And why do I think this is? Because like BBUSA it had alliances and groups working against each other and trying to play the game, especially in BB5 with the Jungle Cats and the Lip-Gloss Bitches. BB3 not as much so, but the Rich/Poor divide certainly was a big selling point to that series.
So it looks like that is the way to go to make BBUK entertaining again, make it about forming alliances and strategy.
I agree with everything you said. BBUK hasn't been as enjoyable for me ever since BB6, because since then we've had too many housemates, no original twists and twists that have fell flat on their face. The housemates themselves are boring, and more than half of them are more interested in exposure and not actually being there. I hope BB9 will be great.

BB5 was so brilliant and one of the reasons was because of the dynamics of that series, and the divide between the LGB's and the Junglecats. We had gameplayers as well who admitted they were playing a game (Victor & Jason). And it was the same in BB6, well, we had Makosi who is probably the best gameplayer our version has seen but she never actually told us she was playing a game like Victor did, probably because game-playing is frowned upon in our version.

And I love both but sometimes I think the US version is better, ever since I began watching it last year. The tasks/competitions are better, more challenging, and very well designed. The housemates they choose are better than the housemates we've had in the last two series. And it's treated as a competition and the housemates actually want to be there, and they want to win it and get as far as they can because they're not just in it for exposure.

As well as that, BBUS is a whole lot less predictable as the dynamics, alliances and strategies can completely change in just one day/week.

I would also love to see the US format adapted over here, even if it was adapted into a completely seperate show from Big Brother with completely different producers so that the original version could still be played during the summer.
