What a nosedive in quality this show takes after the halfway point of the first season. It went from being something great to being trash in a matter of episodes.
Spoiler:
Too many new concepts are thrown at the wall in the second half, adding two new time periods and characters like Old Claudia to the mix as late as they did was dumb. It all felt painfully rushed because of it. They should have just stuck with the 80's and current day as the time periods and give the characters in those time periods something to actually do.
In shows like this you need to answer as many questions as you pose to the audience otherwise the anticipation builds up to a level that will only make the reveals seem disappointing. The posing of questions in the last episode also fell flat for me. How are we meant to care about knowing any more about characters like Noah when he's one moustache twirl away from being a cartoon villain? The stuff with Helge was poorly developed and again, rushed.
The way that most of the characters got sidelined in order to make way for some hackneyed good vs evil battle for time travel between two characters we aren't given any reason to care about is also a terrible writing decision. No answers and the questions poised in the last episode ultimately not being interesting to stick around for means I probably won't bother with the second season.
This show felt like it wanted to be two different shows and the one that it ended up being was the weaker of the two.
