I am afraid that is evolution. Young people have an innate drive to mate and as such will try to be part of groups, spend money on looks and be obsessed with sex until they find a mate and procreate and then they can spend more time on hobbies, philosophical questions and family.

When they get older they can then chastise the young and reminisce about the good old days and how the youth of today dont know how lucky they are (they dont)
