Actually Ann was incorrect in what she said too.
Likely confused more than deliberate.
The UK was taken into the EEC without a referendum.
Edward Heaths Con govt from 1970 to 1974, took us in in 1973.
No election,no referendum.
It was Labour and Harold Wilson who when elected in 1974,did a rather weak re negotiation of terms and then held a referendum in 1975, as to the UK staying in or coming out.
No vote was held before the treaty was signed and the UK in,in 1973.
