I came out as a Gay man in about 1975 when in my early 20s. My Gran was totally OK with it and she was born in the early 1900s. When I first went out with my now husband in 1978 and visited my Gran she was more than happy to let us sleep in the spare room together. She had no issues at all with us being Gay. No excuses are being made and good for you your gran was so accepting but not everyones was,that is a fact , people have different views on things ,simple as,I do not see her as homophobic or a bigot just some one with very strict traditions and a strict upbringing, I know my grandparents believed in a man and woman being married and having a family even divorce was frowned upon then, a man and a woman 'fit' they were brought up in a different time and generation and because everything is so in our faces now and anything goes does not automatically make it right,some people seem to have a massive chip on their shoulders about what we should and shouldn't like,just let people be.
